ABISMO is a sculpture depicting a man sitting on the edge of a cliff, gazing into the void, his hands separated from his body in a gesture of grasping, symbolizing that which has been left behind. This separation arose unexpectedly during the creative process, when the unfinished piece revealed a powerful emotional language that led the artist to leave it that way.
The work reflects a key moment in the artist's life: her decision to leave Italy and move to Mexico in 2006. This "leap into the void" involved personal and professional sacrifices, but it was also essential to her personal and artistic growth.
The figure symbolizes courage and vulnerability in crucial decisions, while the hands represent the parts of oneself sacrificed in the name of change and dreams. ABISMO is a tribute to risk, inner strength, and the transformative power of sacrifice.
