Artwork Details
TENEREZZA is a bronze sculpture depicting a sleeping baby dressed in small pants and an animal-shaped hat. The child rests gently on the back of a fantastical creature, part rodent, part dream-beast, whose face mirrors the animal hat the baby is wearing, dissolving the boundary between imagination and reality.
This piece belongs to the collection Los niños y sus amigos imaginarios, a body of work that delves into childhood as a space where identity begins to form through symbols, companions and inner worlds.
Tenderness embodies the quiet bond between a child and the imaginary beings that accompany us in our earliest attempts to understand the world, a creature that can be seen as an intimate vision of protection and innocence.
