THE SAGE is a large-scale sculpture, the biggest created by Francesca Dalla Benetta to date. Commissioned by a client from the United Arab Emirates, this piece is inspired by the Jungian archetype of the Sage, representing the figure of universal wisdom and the journey of self-knowledge and self-realization.

The sculpture takes as its inspiration the face of the first president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with a calm expression, looking to the book he holds in his hand. Francesca integrates various symbolic elements to represent wisdom, referring both to the local culture of that country, as well as other cultures that have developed an important iconography around knowledge.

The Sage is also an archetype described by Gustav Jung that symbolizes the figure of the mentor or counselor, someone who possesses a deep understanding of life and who uses his wisdom to guide others on their path. This archetype represents accumulated knowledge, the capacity for discernment, access to intuition, self-knowledge, reflection, connection to the collective unconscious and access to universal truths. This is a piece that strikes not only for its profound meaning, but also for the meticulous attention to every detail and the textures that integrate it.
