Behind the Process: Bringing Aurora to Life for Emporio Armani
There are moments in the studio where time seems to bend. Today, as I placed the final touch on the clay model of 'Aurora (origen)', I realized it had only been two weeks since I built the first armature. It has been a whirlwind of absolute focus—two intense weeks sculpting non-stop, setting a personal record I couldn't be prouder of.
Seeing the sculpture fully realized in front of me is an emotion that's hard to put into words.
Aurora wears a complete look from Emporio Armani’s new Fall/Winter collection, and translating high fashion into sculptural form has been a thrilling challenge. I poured an immense amount of detail into the fabric textures and garment draping. Her wild, wind-blown hair seems frozen mid-motion, breaking the stillness of the medium and infusing the piece with vibrant life.
For her features, I drew inspiration from multiple ethnicities rather than defining just one: full lips, light eyes, and a soft, rounded oval face. She embodies a universal, boundary-blurring beauty with a presence that feels both contemporary and timeless.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the collaboration itself. Partnering with a legendary house like Armani commands immense respect, yet their team granted me the creative freedom I need to truly connect with my art. At the same time, regular check-ins with the team in Italy ensured every line and shadow stayed true to Armani's aesthetic values. Finding that balance between artistic intuition and curated design has been deeply inspiring.
With the clay sculpture complete, the first major milestone is behind us. Up next: creating the mold and beginning the lost-wax bronze casting process. Metal awaits, and I can’t wait to show you the next chapter.
